The American Gymnastics Team Program Philosophy... The American Gymnastics Team Program believes in having fun and building positive team spirit in a safe environment, while developing the skills necessary to compete at USA Gymnastics-sanctioned meets at Levels 4-6. |
||
About The American Gymnastics Team...The American Gymnastics Team meets on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 5:15-8:30 pm. Gymnasts may opt for a 2x/weekly or a 3x/weekly program. Practice time includes stretching and strength-building exercises, learning new moves, plus learning and working on the designated routine for each event (floor, uneven bars, beam & vault). Each gymnast is encouraged to work diligently at her own pace with proper spotting and support from the coaching staff. Team members are encouraged to compete at a meet when they feel confident and ready to perform their routines. (You are not required to compete in order to train with and be a part of the team.) In order to compete, gymnasts must join USA Gymnastics and pay their yearly dues. The club typically competes in 4-6 individual meets/level, as well as the New York State Team Cup in June. Parents must provide transportation or organize carpools. The AG Team Parents coordinate the dues for meets, as well as order the team uniforms, warm-up suits and gym bags. They maintain the team roster, communicate information regarding meet details and also help organize the team parties! On one Friday each month, practice concludes with a pizza party. We also hold a holiday party and an end-of-year celebration. All parents are welcome to participate and are much needed to assist with the many tasks that keep the team running smoothly and happily. Meet Our Coaches!The American Gymnastics Coaches are all highly qualified former gymnasts who take teaching seriously and aim to inspire and motivate their students. There are three full-time coaches, as well as a part-time dance movement coach who assists gymnasts in their floor routines each Friday.
